Older Americans Act Re-authorization Act of 2015

The Older Americans Act authorizes programs and funding to benefit individuals aged 60 years or older in each state, including services such as the Long-Term Care Ombudsman Program, home and community-based services, nutritional and transportation programs, legal services, and many others. A Shattered System: Reforming Long-Term Care in California
The Senate Select Committee on Aging and Long-Term Care, Chaired by Senator Lui has released its final report addressing the needs of a growing senior population in California. The report identifies problem areas and makes 30 recommendations for reform to enable elderly and disabled adults to live with dignity, choice, and independence and avoid unnecessary institutionalization. Recommendations include state agency reorganization, better integration and coordination among programs, and expanded home and community-based services.
