IHSS Security Breach Affects 700,000+
The California Department of Social Services (CDSS) announced on May 11th that there has been a security breach involving personal information of more than 700,000 IHSS consumers and providers. According to the announcement, a package with data being shipped via the United States Postal Service, arrived at a vendor's location in Riverside damaged and incomplete. It is not known if the information was stolen or simply lost in transit.
CDSS is currently mailing notifications to all IHSS consumers and providers whose personal information may have been compromised. If you have received a notice from CDSS regarding this matter, or have questions about the security breach, please contact CDSS at 888-362-8947 or visit their website at www.cdss.ca.gov.
