This bill would give IHSS nonprofit consortiums or public authorities the option of paying for the criminal background checks for IHSS providers. It would also require the state to seek federal financial participation to cover costs associated with conducting the criminal background check. Status:This bill was introduced in the Assembly on February 26th as a bill that would require the California Department of Health Care Services (DHCS) to evaluate the implementation of provisions intended to combat fraud in the IHSS Program. It was passed by the Assembly on June 3rd, but was amended on September 3rd before being reviewed by the Senate.
