AB 2727 (Bradford) – CBI Applicant Criminal History This bill would prohibit an employer from denying an application for employment based on previous criminal convictions unless the employer determines that there is a direct relationship between the prior convictions and the employment sought, or that the granting of such employment would involve an unreasonable risk to related property or persons. Status: This bill was passed by the Assembly Labor and Employment Committee on April 21, 2010. However, it did not pass out of the Assembly Appropriations Committee before the May 28, 2010 deadline. No further action will be taken on AB 2727 unless special permission is granted, or it is amended so that it would not impact state spending.
